Precisely Measure Curved Glass Stair Railings – No Templates Required
This project demonstrates how even complex glass measuring tasks can be completed efficiently and accurately using digital measuring. For this custom glass stair railing, the gently curved bottom edge had to be captured with absolute precision—a common challenge in the glass industry. Curved shapes like these are difficult to reproduce using traditional methods and often require time-consuming physical templates.

Using the Solaflex digital measuring system, the entire contour was captured directly on site. By recording multiple measurement points, the curved shape was digitized with millimeter precision in approximately 45 minutes. The cut-outs for the glass mounting brackets were also measured and incorporated into the digital drawing during the measuring process, ensuring a precise fit from the very beginning.
The Result:
A complete digital template that was ready for immediate processing.
Once the measurement was completed, the finished drawing was exported directly as a DXF file and sent to the manufacturer. No physical template or manual drawings were required. The production team received precise digital data instantly—accurate, complete, and ready for fabrication.
This not only saves valuable time but also minimizes common sources of error throughout the entire workflow, from measurement to installation.
